I have chose to design a magazine for Bhangra Music. I feel there is a huge gap in the market for this magazine, and will be in a niche market, and I intend to aim at those from and Indian culture but however make it interesting for those who are not from that culture too.
As I am from an Indian culture and a British Asian ideology, I understand that in this new generation it is hard to keep in touch with your roots, and I feel creating a magazine that will appeal to teenagers and young adults containing information on their culture will intrigue them
The Indian culture has taken the western ideology by storm and there has been a large level of acceptance towards the culture, and this magazine will help make them understand further the traditions that Indians do.
Being a sikh punjabi indian myself, I understand and engage with my culture and my roots strongly, but also understand the British ideology and therefore I will engage my knowledge for both and help present it in a way that is understandable and interesting for all. I will be using my own props such as indian outfits, indian jewellery, indian instruments, all these factors will help my magazine hwo the ethnicity.
Due to having a huge gap in the market for a Bhangra Music Magazine, this then causes implications that I therefore do not have a magazine to compare to that has the same genre, and cant follow any specific codes and conventions. Because of this I will compare my won magazine to a British Magazine cover that I like, such as Q, and receive ideas from that.
