Research: Contents #2: Analysis of Hammer

This is the first double page spread of the Rock Magazine. The left side consists of an advertising of a new upcoming artists. But the right side is where the contents page begins. This contents page has synergy as the image that is shown on the front cover has been enlarged and takes up around 80% of the page.

This is two separate pictures of the second double page spread, the left of the spread has synergy as in the middle at the top it states "Contents" in the same front and colour which has been used perviously. Also using the same image that had been used on the front cover, the previous double page spread. Although stating it is a contents page there is not a lot of information on the contents, and there is yet again an advertising as they res use the image which is shown at the front and promote the ipad edition. 

The second page on the double page spread is the final contents page and uses pugs and puffs, the house style has remained consistent on the front cover and the two double page spreads and used a san serif font throughout, and all of these factors cause synergy. 

This is the second magazine contents page I analysed, they only have one double page spread which is unlike the Rock magazine. They also use pugs and puffs which emphasise the page number and the difference of colours used. synergy is caused as they have placed the Q masthead in the top cover and used the same house style. 

Also the image of Ricky Gervais Holding a bible but with the logo "Q" on the front, and being dressed as priest, are all signs connoting that Q is worth praying too and learning from as they are so god like and talented. 

Here are the grids we did in class comparing the analysis of the contents page, they both have the masthead and the house style on the contents page as well as the front cover.  They both have used puffs to promote what's inside the magazine. However the layout has been different with each as the Rock magazine uses promotions and advertisements very early in their magazine. But the Q magazine does not.
